We are pleased to invite you to our next online session of AHK Community Talks!
With Christian Weident, Managing Partner and Head of Employment at STALFORT Legal. Tax. Audit., a lawyer specializing in employment law and the advisory of national and international companies, with over 20 years of experience in German-Romanian relations and co-coordinator of the employment law working group within AHK, we will discuss Pay Transparency in the EU and Romania: New Legal Obligations, Risks, and Practical Strategies for Employers.
The EU Pay Transparency Directive reinforces the principle of equal pay between men and women for equal work or work of equal value, and marks a paradigm shift in pay‑equity regulation by introducing a comprehensive set of detailed new obligations for employers. These include:
- Transparency in recruitment
- Clear information to candidates and employees
- Systematic assessing and reporting pay gaps
- Periodic reporting duties
- The obligation to adopt corrective measures to address identified disparities.
Romania is preparing to transpose these rules through a draft law, with the transposition deadline for member states expiring on 07.06.2026.
Agenda:
- The European framework: key elements of the EU Pay Transparency Directive and its impact on employers
- The Romanian draft law: concrete pay transparency and reporting obligations, interaction with labor law and anti-discrimination legislation
- What companies need to do in practice: internal audit, HR policies and procedures, management involvement, communication and implementation
- Q&A
