We are pleased to invite you to participate in the Webinar ”A New World (Dis)Order: Geopolitics, Security and Europe’s Strategic Future”, an initiative of the German-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Portugal), which the German-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania) supports. During the webinar Prof. Dr. Carlo Masala will analyze and assess current geopolitical developments. 

The geopolitical risks facing Europe are increasing significantly: the war in Ukraine, tensions in the Middle East, uncertainty regarding the future role of the United States within NATO, and the rise of hybrid threats are fundamentally reshaping the strategic environment for politics and business alike.

The discussion will cover the following topics:

• How stable is NATO today?
• What risks emanate from Russia and the Middle East?
• What are the implications of geopolitical tensions for Europe and the economy?

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Carlo Masala

Prof. Carlo Masala is Professor of International Politics at the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich, where he directs the Center for Intelligence and Security Studies and the Metis Institute for Strategy and Foresight.

Prof. Masala is regarded as one of Germany’s leading security and geopolitical experts. Through his analyses, he has become a key voice in the debate on Europe’s defense capabilities, the future of NATO, and the global shift in power dynamics. In recent interviews, he warned, among other things, of a possible strategic surprise attack by Russia before 2029 and of a growing erosion of the transatlantic security architecture. 
A specialist in security policy, strategy, and international relations, he previously worked at the NATO Defense College in Rome, where he held research and leadership roles. He is the author of several reference works on geopolitics and global security and is a regular voice in public debate and scientific communication on contemporary strategic issues.
