Bucharest/Pforzheim, September 28, 2026 – With Romania’s solar market charging into a high-stakes era of battery storage and hybrid innovation, the Intersolar Summit Romania has unveiled the high-caliber speakers and core highlights set to redefine the regional energy landscape. Taking place October 13–14, 2026, at the NORD Events Center in Bucharest, this premier gathering will deliver the strategic blueprint for unlocking grid flexibility, mastering revenue stacking, and financing next-generation renewable assets.

Europe’s energy system is navigating a complex convergence of challenges. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have pushed Brent crude above $100/bbl, while ongoing LNG disruptions heighten price volatility. Additionally, climate vulnerabilities are pressuring regional grids: record-low water levels in the Danube recently forced output reductions at nuclear plants like Romania’s Cernavoda and Hungary’s Paks, spiking import reliance. These multi-layered shocks are the focus of the session “Energy Resilience in Eastern Europe: Building Robust Power Systems for an Uncertain Future,” which explores how decentralized solar, battery storage, and modernized grids can safeguard critical infrastructure and strengthen regional energy sovereignty.

Simultaneously, the digital economy is transforming electricity demand. According to the IEA and the European Commission, global data-center consumption is set to more than double from roughly 415 TWh in 2024 to 945 TWh by 2030, with European demand surging by ~70% to 113 TWh, driven largely by AI. Because data centers concentrate massive, continuous loads at specific nodes, they pose unique integration hurdles. To evaluate continuous clean power, frameworks like IRENA’s 2026 analysis on "Firm LCOE" provide vital metrics for co-located renewables and storage.

These shifts and the move toward 24/7 firm clean power will be examined in the session “From Megawatts to Firm Power: Data Centers, AI and the Next Wave of Electricity Demand,” which will feature Saied Dardour, Programme Officer for Renewable Energy Costs and Outlook at the IRENA Innovation and Technology Centre. He notes that “co-located solar PV, wind and battery storage are increasingly well placed to serve the most demanding electricity users – data centers, artificial intelligence workloads and advanced manufacturing – which need uninterrupted, high-quality power around the clock. For these customers, a continuous, firm supply is the commercial benchmark, and hybrid renewable systems can now meet it at competitive cost."

Industry Leaders Take the Stage

The summit features a powerhouse lineup of over 25 visionaries, grid pioneers, top investors, and key policymakers shaping the energy transition. Key featured speakers include:

  • Mariyana Yaneva, Chief Operating Officer, IPS: Bringing over 20 years of experience across business intelligence, renewable energy, and smart grids, Yaneva leads operational execution for Exeron—Europe's first BESS gigafactory awarded strategic status under the Net-Zero Industry Act.
  • Varinia Radu, Head of Energy and Projects Romania at CMS: One of Central and Eastern Europe’s top legal experts in energy infrastructure, Radu brings extensive experience in cross-border energy projects, power purchase agreements, and regional investment strategy.
  • Marian Dobrilă, Managing Partner, TDP Partners: With 25 years of experience in finance, banking, and project management, Dobrilă is an RWEA board member who has helped structure and secure over €1 billion in financing for renewable energy, battery storage, and hydrogen projects.

Unrivaled Networking Meets High-Impact Insights

Tailored for decision-makers, utilities, investors, and industrial energy consumers, the Intersolar Summit Romania offers an unprecedented platform to forge high-value partnerships.
