The Romanian pavilion at the International Trade Fair EXPO REAL is organised for the 8th time in a row by the AHK Romania.

Driven by strong private consumption and double-digit wage increases, Romania continues to be one of the fastest-growing European economies, with a real GDP growth of 4,1% in 2018. No signs of slowing down are in sight, as forecasts from the IMF and the European Commission project annual growth rates higher than 3% for the next five years.

Bucharest remains the main interest point for real estate transactions. By 2021, 4 million sqm of modern office space will bring the capital a step closer to a more mature CEE market.

In addition to Bucharest, cities like Cluj, Timisoara, Constanta or Iasi are becoming increasingly interesting for investors and developers: in the first half of 2019, 70% of the market’s sales volume was directed towards other cities than Bucharest. They are generating demand for office space, as well as for industrial and mixed-use developments, and are expected to continue to do so in the following years, due to internal migration and increased opportunities in the region.
